Quick LOI Update

We (my agency and I) hoped I'd have my LOI this coming week, but alas, not the case. The special power of attorney now required in Aqtobe that I had to FedEx to the in-country coordinator (which was finally delivered yesterday, after FedEx claimed it was "undeliverable" due to a wrong address) is required to start the LOI process, not end it. So, looks like a few more weeks. Hoping now for the end of June.

Slightly disappointed, but as I have been stressed trying to pull everything together, I now can get it all done at a calmer pace, then enjoy a week or two without the frenzy.

Also, on the good side, my laptop has been giving me massive problems of late and my IT department is sending me a new (old) one this coming week. Yay! Just have to reload it with all the stuff I need for the trip that isn't supposed to be on it in the first place, like Skype, Russian/Kazakh language programs, tons of music files, all my scanned docs, camera/video camera editing programs, etc. Wonder why the current one has problems.... ;)

And with the several months of delays already, why is she not packed and ready to walk out the door you ask? Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing! ;)

Off to mow the lawn and plant some flowers. Enjoy the weekend!

Alysa,
Sorry your having a delay but there must be a very good reason behind it. Enjoy planting the flowers and doing yard work, uninterrupted, won't be like that much longer :)

Even when you think you have all this "extra" time somehow it does just get away from you.

Alysa,
I can completely understand that feeling. We were expecting to travel in May but that has changed to mid-June. We were disappointed but it has given us the extra time to do so much. I was giving myself migraines from stress before and this time I feel fine.

There is a silver lining :)

I think the most important thing is getting your computer in order - it's a must have for travel.

Take care,
Eileen

Hi Alysa, it sure sounds like you are getting closer to the prize! I've got my fingers crossed for you to travel sooner than later.

The delay stinks - but, it certainly sounds like you have plans for the time.

I am worried about the computer situation - we have to buy a laptop for the trip and Windows Vista sounds like a nightmare. And, I don't think I can make the leap to Mac.

Happy gardening! I have been doing a lot of that this year myself - very therapeutic!

Alysa, you have a great attitude about it. You are right-now when you get the "freaking thing" you will be ready to go!!

Keep up your great attitude. From everything i've read (yes, millions of blogs and books and everything i can get my hands on), having a good attitude can really make ya, or break ya.

and you're a "maker" so keep it up.

I was sure you would have an LOI post today. :) Not the one I had hoped to read, but it sounds like a couple weeks more is an okay thing.........now get packed lady! :)

I promise you that it will be here before you know it. Get all those little strings tied up into pretty bows and be ready to walk out the door! Then when your LOI comes there will still be about 20 things that you have to do, which you couldn't do before you got it. I can't wait for you to go meet your little munchkin!!!!

Ugh, sorry to hear about the delay. I was going to tell you that perhaps you can use the time to prepare... but I just got a look at your son's room and wow, it is gorgeous... and very well stocked (we don't have even a small portion of this stuff... we have a lot to do when we get back!).

Good that you can get a new laptop. I'm using an ancient one from work and they wanted to give me a new one. I said no because I feel that this one is "old trusty" as it hasn't given me grief in the last 9 years I've had it (yes, THAT old) plus I figure it won't be a target for thieves like a new new one would be. Also - my husband bought an external hard drive for next to nothing (like $20 or so, I think) and that is where he is storing all of our music files, back ups of hard drives and videos/photos, etc. It has a TON of space and is very very small. So you may want to look into that.
