A family isn't determined by who is or isn't in it, or how it came to be, but by the bond that is created by the love that is shared.

Work in Progress

My son's room has a ways to go, but I figure I can finish it up between trips. I still haven't put anything on the walls, or managed to get the 2 chests of drawers stained. Sort of wondering where they are going to go, given I'm filling up the room with toys and clothes and assorted stuff. Closets are full too. Here's a preview....

Yes, four tubs of clothes. One of books. One of blankets, towels, bath toys. Boxes and tubs of toys everywhere. Can't see them all in the pictures. Trying to stay far away from all toy and baby stores right now. ;)

I'll be putting many of the toys in a cabinet in the basement for awhile, partly in hopes they will be a bit too old for him, and partly to avoid overwhelming and overstimulating the little guy.

The walls are really not as washed-out minty toothpaste as they look in these pictures., although not quite the sage I was after.

This cubby bookcase? LOVE IT! After searching most of cyberspace and every store I could think of, I finally broke down and paid (too much) for it from Land of Nod. I have to say it is the highest quality and best craftsmanship of anything I have ever purchased that had to be assembled. Very sturdy. And amazingly enough, matches the stain on the crib perfectly. Almost pains me to have a toddler dinging it up with toys, but it is all his.

Alysa,
It looks like a great room for a little boy. I know he's going to love it! I see lots of things to play with to keep him active and interested.

The crib and bookcase are perfect!! You did a great job in organizing the closet too.

Our baby's room is tiny and the closet is filled with *our stuff.* The guest closet downstairs is much bigger and completely filled with little girl clothes :) Ugh, wait to my in-laws see that!

Anyway - super job and I'm glad you posted. Great to get a visual.

I love his room, it is so cute and looks really welcoming. Your son is going to love it.

I know how you feel about book cases I spent hours upon hours searching for one and ended up at the company store, which also makes a really nice, sturdy piece of furniture that I had to assemble.

His closest is packed that is for sure. I too have 3 bins of clothes from my nieces that I have not even unpacked.

Heres hoping that LOI arrives soon so you can meet your son.

Alysa, OMG..i LOVE YOU! Your closet looks like mine!!!! Your son is SET! i can finalyl walk thru stores and not get anything because I think i've P[URCHASED IT ALL!

Love the bookcase!!!

so hard to not buy stuff.

Enjoy dressing your son when he is little, cuz when he gets older, he will not value your opinion. AT ALL.

Sean lives in plaid shorts (his knees CANNOT show) and football jersey's (not cheap)
I always tell him he looks like he's wearing capri's and he never matches (he's also color blind)
LOL
But i still wouldn't trade him for the world. I Love dressed him when he was little-he would wear whatever i wanted until he was about 6. Now, even asking him to wear a shirt "with a collar" is "dressing up".
I told him i missed it when it was cute and little.
Now he looks at pictures from when he was cute and little and insists he looks "horrendous" and his knees show and his hair is nerdy.

That was when i would comb it.
he will no longer comb his hair either. LOL

i love him tons though-and would not trade him for the world. :)

Looks very comfy cozy - he is going to love it. And, look at all those toys! We loved the LeapFrog activity table. That was about 1 of 3 things we really played with Luca's first year.

Really cute - and I am impressed with your organization. BIN is one of my absolute favorite words. I dream about bins.

By the way, it looks pretty done to me!

Your little guy's room looks great. He'll love all his toys, books, and clothes.

Isn't it amazing how little ones take over even before they come home-LOL! I think my daughters have more toys, clothes, and books, in our house than I do, just one of the sacrifices of motherhood.

Best of luck,

The room looks so nice and organized. Don't worry about room for all of his stuff, since once he comes home, all of his stuff will take over your entire household and you'll have the space of his closet for all of your stuff :)

I wish I had a basement for all of our xtra stuff....
