I’m waiting out my 10-hour layover in Almaty at one of my agency’s apartments. Maybe it is just me, but it feels like I stepped into a Jetson’s cartoon or one of those romantic comedies of the sixties. The pictures really don’t do it justice. This is one of the apartments that we can stay in next month. While clean and spacious and it comes with a crib, it somehow just doesn’t feel like home. That may sound weird, but oddly enough that scruffy little apartment in Aqtobe actually does; at least a home away from home. This one does not have a tub and the sinks are very small, so I’m thinking giving a baby a bath could be problematic.

Also want to send a BIG SHOUT OUT to the Serra's -- Susan, Joe, big brother Sean and the adorable baby Leeza -- for a successful court appearance on Wednesday. They don’t need a court to prove they are a family – that has already happened – but they do need the paperwork signed off to get their precious baby girl home to
As our court dates are only a few days apart, we're hoping we may be in Almaty at the same time next month. I would love to meet another cyber friend in Kaz!!!

I like your apartment from the looks of it. Couch is a little Jetsons looking. Hopefully you are in the air on your way home, so you can get yourself ready for that little munchkin to come home.
It would be awesome for you guys to be in Almaty together. Safe travels my friend..

I guess that's supposed to be modern :) Very different!
I hope that you will get to meet Susan and her gang!!!
Can't wait for you to get home - be safe.

Wow, what an apartment! A little too modern for my taste in decor, but very nice indeed.
I hope you have arrived home safely!
I felt much more homesick in Almaty than in our region too. Yes, the apartments - while comfortable enough and usually well located - aren't quite 'home.' You should ask Marina for a 'baby bath' - and they may be able to find a big plastic tub for you anyway. Another suggestion: we purchased a blow up duckie baby bath "tub" from target (rather than a plastic tub) so it is something you could take back with you and inflate there and just fill with water on the bathroom or kitchen floor (you don't need much water). Miras still loves is and will hug its head cuz when you squeeze the beak it says "quack quack quack." Also, while I don't advocate overuse of disposables... the throwaway wash toilettes were great for solo bathing and travel. They come pre-soaped and you can use it to rinse as well.
Hope your flight home was good!
Okay, that is totally a fun apartment. Jetsons yes, I do see it, but so fun!
Christy :)
