Holy Moly, Batman, full-time mommyhood in less than 12 hours!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! I was a little (okay, more than a little) scared, but after seeing Brady again today, I am just wanting that sweet little boy all to myself 24x7. I want to revel in this feeling and remember it, because I’m sure it won’t take too long before I’m worn out and wondering when his nanny will show up!
Started the day by going to two different places to do various sorts of paperwork. We then went to the babyhouse to talk to Gulmira, the head nanny, to get Brady’s schedule and find out what he eats. I wasn’t able to see him then, but the nannies all smiled and said hello. It felt really good that they were genuinely happy to see me. So, heaven help me please, here is his current schedule:
6:00am – bottle of formula
6-9am – nap
9:30am – feeding (porridge and juice)
9:30-11am – playtime
11-1pm – nap
1pm – feeding (porridge and juice)
1-2:30pm – playtime
2:30-4pm – nap
4pm – feeding (porridge and juice)
4-6pm – playtime
6-8pm – nap
8pm – bottle of formula
8-9:30pm playtime
10pm – bedtime
11:30pm – bottle of formula
11:30-6am – bedtime again.
I’m tired just typing it out. Um, that late evening schedule is going to be the first to change!
Next up was grocery shopping. Ainura helped me by translating labels, however she has no experience with baby products or babies period, so not quite sure what I ended up with. If it didn’t have a baby on the front of the package, she wasn’t sure I should give it to him. :) I’m stocked up for several days now.
We did head to the babyhouse late in the afternoon. Brady smiled when he saw me. I fell in love all over again. I swear he has grown since I was here 2 weeks ago. We played for about 20 minutes, then my coordinator called and said we had to go to the passport office. “We” was all of us – Brady too! So they added another layer of clothes on him, got permission from the babyhouse director/doctor (Hello! He is legally ALL MINE now, but I didn’t point that out.) and off we went. He was a sweetheart. (Don't ya just love the hat they put on him?)
He was all eyes in the car, then hilarious when they tried to get passport pictures (again – not sure why). Everyone in the crowded little room was trying to get his attention, but he was a mix of scared, bewildered and curious and looking all over the place. Then we trekked to another floor and waited to register some paperwork. He and I sat in the waiting area and before long he was banging his toy on the nearby table while continuing to watch everyone in the room (big place with lots of people). My dream child. Please let him act just like this for the 24-hour trek home in a couple of weeks!
At the end of our big adventure, he fell asleep in my arms on the way back to the babyhouse. I had to give him back one last time. Three of the nannies came to meet us at his babyroom door. Their love for him was written all over their faces. Many that have gone before have mentioned that this part of the phase is bittersweet. I’m feeling that in waves today. Smiling like crazy one minute, and shedding tears the next. We are both fortunate that he is so young (turned 10 months last Friday), but he is still going to miss his nannies and they are certainly going to miss him. I know time will help, but I so wish I could spare him this hurt.
I planned to do another post about the babyhouse before our Gotcha Day, but it is late, I’m tired, and I’m picking him up tomorrow morning. I need some sleep in a big way, so the post will have to wait til another day. If you don’t hear from me tomorrow, don’t fret, we’re just busy. I’ll post as soon as I can. This is it. The BIG moment. Scared, excited, heart is full. Tomorrow is the first day of our life as a family. I’m lovin’ it!

Alysa,
I am so happy for you, I can only imagine how you are feeling. I'm so excited for you and can't wait to read your post that you and Brady are hanging out at the apartment.
Congratulations... Mommy.
Sandi
Alysa and Brady,
I am so excited for both of you! You will have a happy and long life together.
Brady, your Mommy has been waiting a long time for you! You are very blessed (and so is she.)
My thoughts and love are with you both. Enjoy these times. Life just gets better as time goes on. I can't wait to read more. Take care and Congratulations Mommy!
Love you tons,
Jennifer, Jim, Kailyn, and Colby
Waiting in anticipation with you! I am so happy for you and Brady.
Sounds like you are READY!
Yay! You are standing on the edge of motherhood! Time to make that leap! Enjoy the ride!
P.S. Miras had a similar schedule and we had no trouble getting him on a saner schedule with a mid-morning and mid-afternoon naps. I started giving him a bottle right when he woke up in the morning and from naps and a meal around an hour or two later as we were eating out a lot and needed to buy time for the meal without a meltdown. Although he went to bed around 8pm, we did continue to wake him before we went to bed to give him another bottle - mostly to get more calories in him and to encourage him to sleep later in the mornings! And don't worry too much about the plane - he'll be so curious and interested in people that he'll be an angel (and a flirt!). And then he'll be zonked for the rest!
I was surprised by the 8 p.m. nap. I'm sure you'll put him on your own schedule fine.
I'm so excited for you.
Alysa is a mommy!!!
I can't wait to hear more about your adventures!
Alysa, my dear, Leeza was just like that on the way to the passport office, and she is a dream!! Brady will be too...and you'll figure it out just fine, and I agree-get him off that late feeding. :)
He is going to be wonderful-just wait. :)
It is wonderful knowing how much he was loved in the baby house. It just confirms why we chose Kaz to find out kiddo's...they are very well taken care of. I love to brag about Leeza-she is so easy, but it's not due to me, they raised her thus far and got her on a great lil schedule!
You will continue to fall in love with him when he is with you all the time, because you get to know them more and more and figure out their moods.
I cannot wait to hear you have him, and how much fun you will have.
I am always so suprised that I am TIRED at the end of the day. The schedule of wake up, potty, eat, play, nap, potty, eat, play, potty nap, figure out when to run your errands between potty and meal time can be exhausting, but so fun!
I hope we can hook up in Almaty. I really want to meet you and meet your adorable son. I love his green hat. :)
It will be somewhat bitter sweet leaving the baby house, but I was more sad leading up to it, then I was when we left. I was like you..JUST READY to be her mommy and figure it all out.
If it helps, she does not seem to miss the baby house at all. :)
Brady just turned 10 mos, Leeza just turned 13 months, so they're close in age, and Brady seems like he will walk any minute now!
love ya girl!
so glad we are experiencing this together. :)
Wow, your post brought back wonderful memories. Thank you. I'm so glad that you're relishing this time. It is a blast! Wishing you all the best! Susan (PS you might want to pack an extra tshirt for your own flights---I was covered in formula and cookies by the time I got home. hah)
Wow, that's a lot of napping!!
So happy your end to all of this is finally near and you can start your new beginnging!
