The little squirt is learning to play Mommy too. I've finally picked him up a couple of times when the screaming gets really bad, and he settles down a little, but keeps wailing. Until he sees himself in the mirror that is, then the wails turn to babbles and giggles, until he spots me watching him the mirror, then the wails start again. Sheesh. I'm in trouble with this one!
It was rainy and chilly today. After our quick trip to the grocery and nap fiasco, we just hung out in the apartment for the afternoon.
We went to the Green Market yesterday. I went close enough to the meat stalls to get a picture, then quickly turned around. I eat meat, but don't want to see the form in which it originated dangling from a hook, thank you.

The tyke desperately needs a bath, but even a diaper change is meeting with resistance tonight and I just don't have the energy. We'll tackle it in the morning. We've had a couple of very quick baths so far. He doesn't quite like them yet, although the last one was a little better. He was trying to grab the bubbles left in the water from the washcloth. There is hope!
Brady's passport has not yet found it's way back to Aqtobe; it started in Aqtobe, went to Astana, has to go back to Aqtobe for some sort of registration, then back to Astana, before being sent to Almaty. Bottom line is it looks like we'll be here for at least another week. I am eager to get home. A dishwasher and dryer are looking really good right now! Here's a pic from a few minutes ago. Better than TV!

Alysa,
Madina also boycotted naps after leaving the babyhouse. It is tough and it seems to be a cycle, the less they sleep the harder it is to get them to sleep. Hopefully it will get easier once he adjusts to all the changes and the new place.
Best of luck on the rest of your trip. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get to come home sooner than you think.

I am sure Brady is trying to take everything in - this big world has opened up to him. I know that doesn't help. Naps are essential to mom's sanity. I have read so many people write that it is basically "survival parenting" while in-country.
Alia has yet to have a full bath. She got so freaked out the very first time that Scott has not gotten up the nerve to try it again.
I hope you get that passport soon!
Hopefully the sleeping gets a bit better for you and that you are able to get home soon. He is a pretty good trooper for all the changes he is experiencing...not to mention the big change you are experiencing yourself :). Soon you will be home and can get him into a routine/environment that becomes familiar to him.
I love the picture of him in front of the washer.
I love the last pic with the washing machine! That's priceless..just shows how little it takes to entertain kids :>
BTW, my son unfortunately dropped his morning nap at 9 months and took a long 2-3 hr nap in the afternoon. It was sad for me but I went thru the same thing with him crying b/c he didn't want to go down so I eventually gave up and with the afternoon nap he went down very easy. Go figure. Now we are at zero naps :<
hey-keep the faith with the baths. Leeza now loves them and cries to tet out. at first, i could not get her head wet, only with a washcloth and washed her hair like that. now she doesn't care, she splashes her own face. I can't wait to get this lil fish into swimmin lessons!
Brady doesn't want to sleep cuz his mommy is so fun and he doens't want to miss a thing.
Leeza thinks her mom is boring she is ready for her NAPS. :)
she is currently playing with a mento's box. dork. :)
and, she likes the washing machine too..
